Don’t take chances with a local locksmith that is not a GSA Certified Safe and Vault Technician. DoD 5200.1-R C6.4.7 clearly states that “neutralization of lock-outs or repair of any damage to GSA containers and vault doors shall be accomplished only by authorized persons.” If you use a locksmith that is not a GSA Certified Safe and Vault Technician, you run the risk of compromising the security of the container. Also, if the locksmith you choose does not know the Federal Standards, applicable to GSA containers and vaults you may be wasting money on a container that does not meet standards and cannot be restored to its original state of security integrity.
